Alter Natura d.o.o., a travel agency from Komiža on the island of Vis, holds the Croatian Island Product label for the intangible product 'The Falkuša Gajeta Experience', a unique experience that brings one of the strongest icons of Croatian maritime heritage to life. It offers visitors an authentic encounter with the sea, tradition and life in Komiža through the historic falkuša gajeta boat. Alter Natura is a family company founded in 2004, and in 2014 it built its own replica of a falkuša with particular care and respect for heritage. This legendary vessel, once essential to the lives of Komiža fishermen, is today a powerful symbol of island identity, resilience and connection with the sea. Through the experience, visitors have the opportunity not merely to see this heritage but to live it directly and emotionally. The aim of the project is to encourage Croatian and international visitors to Vis to participate actively and learn through experience in an entertaining, creative and educational way. Particular emphasis is placed on connecting and networking local stakeholders and on bringing Komiža's cultural heritage closer to island children and young people so that knowledge, values and love of tradition can be passed on to future generations. 'The Falkuša Gajeta Experience' is a truly authentic Croatian island product, combining sea, heritage, community and living experience in a way that preserves the past while helping build a sustainable future for Vis and Komiža.
