Beans have been grown and prepared in island households since ancient times, and their nutritional value helped sustain many poor fishing and farming families. Oliver and Albina Andreškić grow the old Loparčić bean variety, recognisable by its small mottled seeds, and package it in jars in an effort to preserve it from being forgotten and to offer a healthy, authentic island product.
